Valediction
You’ve done a great deal of valuable work as you've made
your way through this book.
You’ve engaged courageously with some very difficult and
challenging issues that confront our emerging profession.
You’ve stood up for better, more accurate, and more valid
information for clients, for students and practitioners of massage, and for the
interdisciplinary professional team.
You’ve laid the groundwork for building bridges to patient/client-centered
biomedical healthcare professionals, so that we can work together as peers and
as teammates, whose contributions are mutually respected and valued. Just as
Starfield observed, with those clear goals and our sense of mission, we have
the opportunity to create a much better system than the current one—by
accurately, ethically, and justifiably breaking down the barriers that block
clients from receiving massage.
The future of professional massage is in your hands,
literally and figuratively. Now let's go out and write history for our clients
and for all of us!
